The client, a retail and distribution center with 140+ locations across North America, historically used spreadsheets to manage its own energy program. The time and resources used to support monitoring of utility spend was unmanageable, so the client set nearly all utility bills to “autopay.” However, changing market conditions led to lost savings opportunities.

SOLUTION:
Stark’s intelligence software ControlFreak, a utility bill management software system, was implemented to centralize energy data. The client gained new insights for energy procurement, rate optimization, risk and budget management, and market intelligent services.

RESULTS:
The client sees a net benefit of more than 30% above the annual cost of the software service. Beyond the savings realized from the utility bill processing service, the software analyzes and corrects any billing errors and ensures the client is on the correct rate class and is properly sourced.
